Gulf Coast Cancer Treatment Center Expands Practice With New Physicians and State-of-the-Art Technology
Drs. Hurst and Trupp Bring Experience in
Advanced Radiation Therapy Techniques
The Gulf Coast Cancer Treatment Center (GCCTC) in Panama City, FL has expanded its services with the recent addition of Drs. David Hurst and Jefferson Trupp to the practice. GCCTC, an affiliate of Atlanta Oncology Associates (AOA), one of the largest radiation therapy groups in the Southeast, has been providing world-class radiation therapy to the local community since 1991.
“We are pleased to add of Dr. Hurst and Dr. Trupp to our practice,” said Dr. Dale McCord, President and CEO of AOA.
The addition of these two new physicians solidifies GCCTC’s position as the premiere cancer treatment and research center in northwest Florida. The practice utilizes state-of-the-art cancer treatment technology, such as the Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) technique.
This technique is performed through the Elekta Precise linear accelerator, one of the latest on the market. With this new technology, GCCTC is able to treat a variety of cancers such as prostate cancer, head and neck cancer, some brain tumors, and selected lung cancers, while sparing the surrounding tissue and targeting the tumor with smart radiation.
GCCTC was the first radiation oncology facility in northwest Florida to utilize an FDA approved 3-D conformal treatment planning system. They are also now providing brachytherapy seed implants for prostate cancer patients, which is a type of radiation therapy in which tiny radioactive seeds are implanted into the prostate gland using ultrasound guidance. This procedure can be performed using either high or low dose radioactive sources.
The Gulf Coast Cancer Treatment Center (GCCTC) is an affiliate of Atlanta Oncology Associates (AOA), one of the largest radiation therapy groups in the Southeast. AOA has offices in eight locations throughout North Florida, Metro Atlanta, and North and Central Georgia. Since its establishment in 1991, GCCTC’s board certified oncologists have provided high standards of patient satisfaction with on-site, state-of-the-art radiation oncology and medical oncology services. GCCTC is located in Panama City, FL.
